SecureSearch™ offers FCRA compliant self-screening services to the general public for a variety of situations:

  • When the organization you’re applying to requires a background check
  • When you are curious as to what shows on your background check*
  • When you want to identify and correct any inaccurate information

What services are available for a self-screening?

  • Multi-State Criminal Database searches more than 1 billion criminal records from Counties, Department of Corrections, Administrative Offices of the court covering many states and Washington, DC.  Also searched: National Sex Offender Registry, SSN Trace, SSN Death Index (validates that the SSN does not belong to an already deceased individual), and Alias Names (all names returned on the SSN trace are searched against the database).
  • County Courthouse Criminal is a county specific search that reports Felony and Misdemeanor convictions.
  • MVR – Driving History is a check 3 year search of a specific state driving record and includes infractions, violations, misdemeanors, felonies, points, and current status (e.g., valid, invalid, expired, suspended, revoked, reinstated, etc.).
  • Federal Criminal – National is a 7 year search of all Federal Courts (aka U.S. Courts) within the U.S.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681, is U.S. Federal Government legislation enacted to promote the accuracy, fairness, and privacy of consumer information contained in the files of consumer reporting agencies.

Per federal law all Consumer Reporting Agencies (background screening organizations) must provide the FCRA Summary of Rights to all individuals. You must certify that you have read and understand the FCRA Summary of Rights for our legal compliance.  This does not indicate that a credit report will be performed as the FCRA applies to all types of background checks, not just ones that include credit/financial information.

There are many reasons why the record may not appear in a report:

  • The records are older than 7 years
  • The records are recent and the conviction hasn’t been released to the public record
  • The records have been sealed or expunged
  • The state or county does not report misdemeanor and felony convictions to the Multi-State database. To view current reporting jurisdictions, please click here.
  • The Name and Date of Birth do not match what is on file with the jurisdiction (i.e. Jon Smith vs. John Smith vs. Jonathan Smith)
  • It is possible that the criminal record resides with a Federal Court and therefore you would need to search that court system as well as State and Local courts

No.  As we are not accessing your credit report, it will not affect your credit report or score.

No.  Our available self-screening packages only contain services that report criminal and MVR – Driving History.

Required information: First name, Middle name, Last name, DOB, SSN, and Current address.

If the package you select includes a county criminal search you will be required to select a state and a county.  If the package you select includes a MVR – Driving History, you will be required to enter your state and license information.

SecureSearch™ maintains the utmost integrity of all information trusted to our system.  We partially truncate your DOB and SSN on your completed report ensuring your Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is safe and never disclosed.

NOTE: Services are for personal searches only. It is unlawful to order a background screening on someone other than yourself, under any circumstance. If you need a background screening on someone other than yourself, please contact us at 866-891-1954, opt 2.

*Multi-State results are limited to our database search. Not all jurisdictions are included in our database search therefore results cannot be guaranteed for accuracy. The data searched in our Multi-State is a combination of direct and indirect records. Direct records are searched at the time of your request directly from the jurisdiction. Indirect records have been previously purchased from the jurisdictions and are stored in a proprietary database, which is searched at the time of your request.
